Miro
2023

2026
Miro is a cloud-based visual collaboration platform that gives teams an infinite digital whiteboard to brainstorm, plan, and work together in real time or asynchronously. Put simply - it's a place where enterprises can organise and find a new home for everything they have going on - from app prototyping through agile processes to manufacturing physical goods. Currently the platfrom is utilized by 100M+ users worldwide.
Challenge
In mid-2023, Miro had just contracted AKQA for a complete brand overhaul. At the same time a big chunk of the design workforce had just been laid off as the creative team was restructuring.
As a result deadlines were stretched but the leadership team wanted to launch the new brand identity along with the annual miro event.
I was contracted as part of a dedicated team of experts who would make sense of the chaos and create a strategy and design deliverables so that all customer facing content was in line with the new visual direction within 2 months.
This brief project turned into a long term arrangement and we continued providing retainer-based design support for the following two years. Going through two more rebrands and the complete overhaul of the product with the introduction of AI functionalities.
Solution
My role in this project was as a design generalist - I filled gaps and contributed to whatever had the highest priority at the time.
I worked on:
Brand team specific design system
CMS web templates for all marketing landing pages
Creative direction, lottie pipeline establishment storyboarding and animation for collateral across product, web, social, live events and customer communication, localized in 7 languages
Enterprise-specific offerings for industries such as:
Pharma
Consulting
Financial Services
Manufacturing
AI-powered features & product tools like:
MCP
Tables
Interactive Presentations
AI Toolbar
AI Prompting Input & chat
Integrations with:
Jira
Figma
Google Docs

Project highlight -
Tables Component
I got to work on one of the most anticipated and widely adopted features in Miro - native spreadsheets. Of course, expectations were high for a feature like this so we released features in a phased out approach - making sure everything was right before expanding scope.
The tables are pretty smart and with features like date fields, timeline views, automatic issue tracking, formulas & math, sub items & more, it's used by project managers, designers, developers, financial analysts and everyone in between.
Impact
